Reports to: Director of Recreation Therapy
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00-4:30. Works beyond regular business hours and on weekends, when necessary.

Job Summary:
The purpose of the Music Therapist is to provide a strong, well-organized music therapy program to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of our residents seven (7) days a week taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs. This position will develop programming to stimulate individual interests in meaningful activities and provide a therapeutic environment for all residents.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Provide a therapeutic musical environment for all residents
- Develop programming to stimulate individual interests in meaningful activities
- Provide a strong, well-organized music therapy program to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the residents seven (7) days a week taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs
- It shall be the responsibility of the music therapist to oversee the planning and implementation of goal oriented group and individual recreation programs in all areas that meet the assessed needs of all residents
- Oversees the development of a monthly music therapy schedule for each unit which is based on resident assessed needs and expressed interests
- Schedules and coordinates musical therapy throughout the entire facility
- Oversees the implementation of specialized music therapy programs for the dementia, young adults, sub-acute Rehab, and other special populations to meet their assessed needs
- Additional duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or music
- At least 1 year experience in a long term care setting
- At least 1 year experience in an activities, or recreation therapy setting
Preferred qualifications:
- Music therapy certification
- Experience working with a diverse population
- New graduates encouraged to apply
