We are seeking a driven, well-connected, and highly organized Talent Buyer / Booking Manager to lead our entertainment programming. This person will oversee all aspects of artist acquisition—including searching, evaluating, negotiating, coordinating, and booking performers who align with our brand and audience.
Role Overview
The Talent Buyer / Booking Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a dynamic calendar of live music that keeps Soho Live at the forefront of NYC’s nightlife and cultural scene. The ideal candidate has strong music industry relationships, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to consistently deliver high-quality entertainment that drives attendance and elevates the venue’s reputation.
Key ResponsibilitiesTalent Scouting & Booking
- Identify, research, and evaluate artists, bands, DJs, and entertainers that fit the Soho Live aesthetic and target demographic.
- Conduct outreach and maintain relationships with managers, labels, agents, and independent artists.
- Negotiate performance fees, contracts, hospitality riders, and technical requirements.
- Secure bookings while remaining aligned with venue budgets and scheduling needs.
Show Coordination
- Build and maintain a consistent calendar of weekly entertainment.
- Coordinate show logistics including load-in/out times, soundchecks, set lengths, and hospitality.
- Work collaboratively with production, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless event execution.
- Oversee communication between artists and venue staff leading up to each performance.
Strategic Programming
- Develop entertainment concepts and themed nights that enhance brand identity.
- Analyze performance data (attendance, revenue, guest feedback) to refine booking strategy.
- Keep up with music trends and local scenes to ensure Soho Live remains culturally relevant.
Administrative & Financial
- Draft and manage contracts, invoices, and advance sheets.
- Track entertainment expenses and adhere to budget parameters.
- Maintain accurate records of bookings, payments, and event details.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a talent buyer for a venue, entertainment booker, event programmer, booking manager, or similar role.
- Strong network within the NYC music scene is highly preferred.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing artist relations.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with contracts, riders, show advancing, and basic production requirements.
