Title of Position - Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands

STARTING DATE: Fall Term 2026
TIMELINE: Screening of applications begins date/immediately and continues until position is filled.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the Wartburg Director of Bands/Director of Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band
- Oversee all aspects of the Wartburg College Concert Bands including recruitment
- Teaching courses in music education and/or conducting; other teaching duties as assigned by the department
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- ABD in Instrumental Conducting OR related degree
- Successful and innovative college-level teaching OR experience as a program director
- Proven success in recruitment
- Willingness to support the mission of the College
PREFERRED:
- PhD or DMA in Instrumental Conducting OR related degree
- Fulfilled administrative duties within a music department
- Teaching experience at the secondary level
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College's strategic plan of inclusion.
SALARY: Competitive for entry-level appointment at similar institutions
