Job Description – Music Therapist (Children & Adolescents)

Position: Music Therapist

Employment Type: Independent Contractor / Flexible Schedule

Location: Various locations in Ocala (homes, schools, educational centers)

Compensation: Paid per session

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Therapist to provide expressive therapy services to children and adolescents with special needs. The therapist will use music interventions to promote emotional, cognitive, and social development, while working closely with families, schools, and other professionals.

This is a flexible position with open scheduling. Reliable transportation is required, as sessions may take place in clients’ homes, schools, or educational centers

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual and group music therapy sessions for children and adolescents.
Design and implement therapeutic music activities tailored to the client’s developmental, emotional, and social needs.
Collaborate with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and session reports.
Adapt interventions to various settings (home, school, center) and client needs.
Monitor and evaluate clients’ progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
Promote a safe, engaging, and supportive environment during sessions.
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of music therapy techniques and interventions.
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with children, families, and staff.
Creativity, patience, and empathy in adapting to individual client needs.
Strong organizational skills for documentation and session planning.
Commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education & Certifications (Mandatory)

Bachelor’s Degree in Music (required).
Certification or training in Music Therapy strongly preferred.
Current valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a background check and meet all state and insurance requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
