Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Therapist or Music Instructor to teach 2-4 weekday, afternoon small group classes. The ideal candidate will utilize music as a therapeutic tool to support the inclusion of neurodivergent teens and adults in social recreation. Music classes may involve a combination of the following: learning how to use simple musical instruments, songwriting, improvisation, creating simple music videos, and other creative musical projects. The goal is to help participants achieve their personal goals, enhance their emotional well-being, and improve their quality of life.

Duties

Conduct small group music therapy sessions tailored to the needs of clients.
Utilize various musical activities, including songwriting, improvisation, and performance, to facilitate outcomes for social recreation.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for clients.
Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in music therapy and related fields.

Experience

A degree in Music Therapy, music, or a related field is preferred.
Experience working with autistic individuals is highly desirable.
Experience in teaching music or creative arts is a plus.
Familiarity with behavioral therapy techniques and mental health counseling practices is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of art therapy and recreational therapy approaches is a plus.
