Essence of Life Hospice is seeking a compassionate Music Therapist to join its team in Amana, IA.

As a Music Therapist, you will travel throughout use music to help patients and families as they navigate life’s most challenging moments, providing comfort, emotional expression, and spiritual support during end-of-life care. You’ll have a key role in helping patients and families find peace, connection, and meaning.

Essence of Life Hospice provides compassionate, coordinated care focused on comfort to Iowa County and the surrounding area. The team delivers comprehensive physical, psychological, and spiritual support 24/7, helping patients and families navigate end-of-life care with dignity and comfort.

Key Details:

Monday–Friday, within the hours of 6:00 am – 5:00 pm (flexible with approval)
This role requires local travel to visit patients within a 50-mile radius of Amana, IA, with mileage reimbursement provided
Part-time candidates are encouraged to apply

Job Duties:

Assess patients’ emotional, psychological, and physical needs to create personalized music therapy plans
Lead individual and group sessions to ease pain, anxiety, depression, grief, and other end-of-life symptoms
Use music to provide comfort, support emotional expression, and enhance spiritual care
Facilitate music therapy for family members to help process grief and strengthen connections
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to deliver holistic care
Document therapy sessions, patient progress, and key observations accurately
Educate families and caregivers on the benefits of music therapy for emotional and spiritual support

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Therapy or a related field
Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) or relevant professional certification
Daily travel within Essence of Life Hospice’s service area is required
A good driving record, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance is required
