Mission and Vision
The congregation adopted the following Mission and Vision Statements after a Long Range Planning process in 2026.
VISION (who we see ourselves becoming)
Following Jesus, the transcendent teacher and prophet, our progressive faith community strives for spiritual growth. We practice joyful worship, meaningful study, emotional healing, creative expression, and we work for social justice. We stand against the forces of oppression and express love for all life and our planet.
MISSION (who we are right now)
North Congregational UCC fosters a loving community that practices progressive theology, extravagant inclusiveness and transformative social justice. We affirm that faith is a journey and we support those who are exploring, questioning, or seeking deeper meaning in their lives. Through worship, music, education, and community engagement, we strive to be a sanctuary for all to:
** Celebrate the ministry and teachings of Jesus
** Explore the mysteries of Christian faith beyond traditional dogma
** Encounter spiritual wisdom from alternative traditions and practices
** Exhibit resistance against oppression of marginalized people
