Musicians of the Old Post Road seeks a Concert Assistant to help with its subscription series concerts. MOPR’s season includes a total of four programs, each performed twice for a total of 8 concerts. Each program is performed in Boston and a repeat performance is offered at a venue in MetroWest or Worcester.

Responsibilities will include assisting the General Manager in setting up the Box Office and post-concert reception for each performance, as well as overseeing the arrangements of seating at each concert venue, helping to oversee volunteers, and assisting the General Manager with selling tickets, merchandise, and patron stewardship.

On concert days, time commitment at the venue is typically 5-6 hours beginning at 1pm in the afternoon for a 4pm concert start time. Due to the location of venues outside of Boston, access to a car is NECESSARY.

Compensation: $100 per concert, for a total of $800 for the season

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a familiarity with concert production protocol (a background or training in classical music is helpful), excellent customer service skills, and comfort with technology needed for ticket sales (such as Zettle). Punctuality is vital and creative thinking for managing issues that may arise is an important asset. Ability to assist with carrying 20-25lb supply boxes is necessary.

Described as “one of the discoveries” of the 2001 early music festival in Regensburg, Germany, Musicians of the Old Post Road has been captivating audiences in the US and abroad with its exciting programming and virtuoso performances. Its subscription concert series, offered in historic building across eastern and central Massachusetts, is now completing its 33rd season and includes 8-10 performances annually. As a chamber ensemble specializing in the period instrument performance of music from the Baroque, Classical, and early Romantic periods, the ensemble specializes in offering a dynamic and diverse repertory that includes “rediscovered” works that have been lost to audiences for centuries. Winner of the 1998 Noah Greenberg Award from the American Musicological Society, Musicians of the Old Post Road has also received programming awards from Chamber Music America and the US–Mexico Fund for Culture. The ensemble has toured in Germany, Austria, and Mexico, and has appeared at festivals and on concert series in the U.S.
The ensemble’s discography includes seven recordings that have each been praised in the US and abroad. They include The Virtuoso Double Bass (Titanic, 1994), Trios and Scottish Song Settings of J. N. The organization is in good financial standing, and has been cited by a Program Manager of the Cultural Investment Portfolio of the Mass Cultural Council, as being in the top percentile among peers.
