Position Summary

New Bethel AME Church in Willow Grove, a vibrant and growing congregation with a rich 106-year legacy of serving God’s people, is seeking a skilled and spirit-led Worship Musician who sings and plays piano. This per-diem/part-time role supports Sunday worship services and select special services through live music that enhances congregational worship and creates a meaningful, prayerful atmosphere. Person selected would be apart of a musician pool to ensure the church always has musical accompainment.

This position is ideal for a flexible musician who desires to serve in ministry without the administrative or directing responsibilities of a full Music Director role.

Key Responsibilities

Provide piano accompaniment and lead vocals for Sunday worship services as scheduled.
Support congregational singing and collaborate with clergy and worship leaders during services.
Prepare appropriate music selections aligned with the worship theme and AME tradition.
Accompany choirs, soloists, or praise teams as needed (without directing responsibilities).
Participate in special services (e.g., funerals, revivals, holidays) as availability permits.
Coordinate with the audio/visual team to ensure sound quality and smooth transitions during worship.

Qualifications

Proficiency in piano and confident vocal ability suitable for congregational worship.
Experience playing for church services or similar worship settings.
A genuine love for God and a heart for worship ministry.
Ability to follow worship flow, cues, and adapt in live service settings.
Reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
Availability for Sunday services and occasional special services.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with African Methodist Episcopal (AME) worship style and traditional/contemporary gospel music.
Ability to play by ear and follow spontaneous worship moments.
Flexibility with musical styles to support a diverse congregation.
