REPORTS TO: Product Development Chemist

JOB SUMMARY: The Lab Coordinator is responsible for managing the organization of the research and development department’s lab operations while supporting the work of the chemists and technicians. As a lab coordinator, your primary job duties include coordinating lab use, acquiring new materials, maintaining equipment, overseeing the quality control program, and ensuring all safety rules and regulations are met while keeping the lab operating in an efficient manner.

KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness and takes prompt corrective action when unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment are reported or observed.
Oversees quality control to ensure product(s) meet or exceed standards and specifications such that internal and external customers have a high degree of satisfaction.
Keeps all relevant lab documentation up-to-date; including but not limited to creating and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Act as a customer service liaison for the lab with other departments.
Manages lab SharePoint site and communicates data with external and internal parties as needed.
Oversees document management systems.

KEY OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs analytical and quality control tests following Neyra’s standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
Records quality control data.
Coordinates lab inventory management and maintains supplies, lab ware and instruments.
Updates and communicates data to appropriate parties utilizing the lab’s Microsoft SharePoint site.
Works in conjunction with operations to coordinate quality control testing to ensure production targets are achieved.
Create product samples for the sales team to distribute.
Weighs and blends raw materials per written or verbal formula with high degree of accuracy.
Performs ISO, ASTM, and other third party (peer-reviewed) methods
Prepares clear and concise written reports and summaries with minimal supervision and editing.
Other tasks as assigned.

SKILLS AND BEHAVIORS:

High School Diploma or GED
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (preferred)
Must be hands-on in conducting laboratory testing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to communicate clearly with others and must be physically able to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and knee. The employee must be able to occasionally lift or move up to approximately 50 pounds. Vision abilities require by this job include close and distant vision and color vision.

PPE REQUIRED

Must be able to wear standard PPE (goggles or safety glasses, steel toed shoes, gloves, lab coat) and qualify to wear a full-face respirator.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
