Independent Contractor Opportunity – Piano Instructor

Urban Venture is seeking a skilled and reliable Piano Instructor to support and teach group piano lessons to students ages 6-18. Classes will consist of 4-5 students per group and will be held in the evenings between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, depending on the instructor’s availability and registration needs. This hourly, part-time contract-based opportunity is ideal for professionals who value flexibility, autonomy, and impactful work about working with young people in an urban community setting.

Scope of Work

· Provide high quality group piano instructions to 4-5 students per class, ages 6-18.

· Develop lesson plans tailored to varying skill levels within a group setting.

· Foster a collaborative and supportive classroom environment where students encourage each other.

· Track and communicate student progress to parents, guardians, and program staff.

· Support Urban Ventures’ mission by modeling positive values and building strong relationships with students.

· Attend periodic check-ins or meetings with the Music & Arts Coordinator.

Qualifications

· Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance and teaching.

· Experience leading group music instruction preferred.

· Strong communication and classroom management skills.

· Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and levels within a group.

· Passion for youth development, music education, and community impact.

Contract Details

· Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

· Duration: Mondays and Wednesdays, September 22, 2025 – December 17, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, December 19, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the end of session piano recital.

· Compensation: $40.00 per hour

· Location: On-site
