Position Summary: The Director of Music will work in cooperation with the Pastor, church musicians, and sound technicians in the area of general planning and leadership of the music program and worship ministry of the church. This position is responsible for the leadership of the adult Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Our church worship service is an informal, traditional worship service. We are a church with a love of music and an openness to expanding our range of music.

Responsibilities:
This part-time position requires approximately 10 hours per week.
The Director of Music shall:
1. Be responsible for the leadership of the following choirs: adult Chancel Choir, adult
Handbell Choir
2. Plan and conduct weekly choir / handbell rehearsals and Sunday warm-ups.
3. Select and sequence hymns and service music for the church’s worship services.
4. Recruit church volunteers of all ages for choirs.
5. Be responsible for the purchase of all necessary music and music supplies.
Expenditures shall not exceed the amount provided in the church budget.
6. Maintain the church’s music library.
7. Participate and collaborate with the worship planning team to explore worship styles.
8. Cooperate with the Pastor, church musicians, and sound technicians in the area of
general planning and leadership of the music program and worship ministry of the
church.
9. Arrange for substitute accompanists/pianists/organists when necessary.
10. Participate (as able) in church staff meetings and other planning meetings.
11. Take the lead in maintaining the church’s instruments. In consultation with the church
musicians, report to the worship team the condition and needs for the maintenance of
the handbells, organ, and piano(s). The church shall provide funds for the proper care
of these instruments.
12. Aid in developing and assessing the budget for the church’s music ministry.
13. Week-long Vacation Bible School - assist with preparation, oversee/lead music portion.
14. Arrange/coordinate for special music/musicians.
15. Coordinate music for special services (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Holy Week/Easter,
etc.) including youth bells and/or choir as interest and seasons demand.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a musical setting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey ideas and instructions to diverse groups.
- Ability to educate musicians at various skill levels, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Experience in mentoring individuals or groups in musical techniques and performance practices.
- A degree in Music or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; equivalent experience will be considered.
- A passion for music education and community engagement is essential.
