Job Description:
Abiding Savior Lutheran Church is seeking a skilled and dedicated organist to enrich our worship services with inspiring music. The organist will play a vital role in supporting our congregation's worship experience by providing music for Sunday services, special events, and occasional services such as weddings or funerals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide organ and/or piano music for Sunday worship services and other special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Easter, midweek services during Lent).
- Accompany the congregation in hymns, liturgies, and choral anthems.
- Collaborate with the pastor and worship leaders to select music that complements the service.
- Rehearse as needed with vocalists and any additional instrumentalists as needed.
- Maintain the church organ and piano, reporting any necessary repairs or tuning.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in playing the organ and piano with a strong understanding of liturgical music traditions.
- Ability to accompany choirs and lead congregational singing by playing the organ or piano.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Compensation:
This is a part-time position, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
