Position Summary
To develop and lead the worship music ministries for Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church (FPC) under the direction of the Senior Pastor; to collaborate with staff and lay teams to create and lead worship experiences that are consistent with the church’s mission, vision, values and theology.
Responsibilities
Music and Worship Ministry
- Coordinate worship experiences for the whole church; provide guidance for all worship experiences; work to incorporate worship in all areas of church life
- Set expectations for and lead the music team to provide musical worship for the congregation
- Seek out, train and develop current and new members for the music, worship and tech teams
- Maintain a culture of discipleship and spiritual growth among teams
- Coordinate music, media and overall worship service with Pastor, Worship team, Music team and Tech team
Music leadership
- Coordinate the selection of music for weekly worship services, special occasions, and holidays
- Lead music at regular Sunday morning worship services and other services of worship throughout the year
- Lead and schedule regular team rehearsals and communicate weekly with music team
- Organize and maintain all music resources and spaces, including care and upkeep of all church instruments
Church leadership
- Participate in regular staff meetings
- Collaborate with pastor and communications coordinator in planning sermon series
- Offer suggestions and observations which would improve FPC’s music/worship ministries
- Connect with other church ministries for the purpose of encouraging worship in all areas of life
- Assume other duties as may be assigned by the Pastor
Qualifications
- Demonstrate an active faith in Jesus
- FPC is affiliated with ECO – A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. The person hired would need to affirm and agree with the Essential Tenets of ECO and have a personal commitment and testimony of faith in Jesus Christ that falls in line with ECO’s theology. - Training and experience in creating and leading worship music teams
- Enthusiastic with good verbal and written communication skills; able to relate well and respectfully communicate with Pastor, staff and church members
- Ability to actively engage the congregation during worship through music
- Skilled in vocal and instrumental music leading. Preferred: able to read music well
- Ability to utilize and expand resources, and to network with the community
- Works well in a highly collaborative setting
Hours
This is a part time position requiring approximately 20-25 hours a week, the majority of which to be worked at the church
Compensation
- Salary range available on request
- Professional expenses as approved by supervisor
- 2-weeks time-off, including 4 excused Sundays per year
