Worship Arts and Music Director Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Beloved’s Worship Arts and Music Director leads arts and music programming to deepen the worship experience for those who attend church services, whether that be live or online.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Pastor for direct day-to-day supervision
Staff Parish Relations Team for personnel matters
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures all musical and artistic selections, themes, and performances align with UMC mission and Beloved’s current vision.
2. Leads congregation and worship team, vocally and instrumentally, during services.
3. Leads planning and coordination (with Pastor and Worship and Technology teams) of all musical and artistic components presented during Beloved’s regular and special worship services throughout the year.
4. Recommends and selects music in consultation with Pastor.
5. Organizes, transposes, and distributes music to singers and instrumentalists.
6. Coordinates volunteer and paid musicians, including any rehearsals.
7. Invites vocally and instrumentally gifted musicians to participate in services and events.
8. Recommends additions and new applications of technologies and equipment to encourage and enhance congregational participation in services and events.
9. Collaborate with technology volunteers to ensure audio/visual support of worship services.
Workload: It is expected that the average workweek is 12-15 hours, although hours may vary, depending on church holidays (Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas).
Additionally, other community events may require more and/or different hours during a particular week or pay period.
Compensation: Amount and frequency of pay are negotiable.
