Job Summary:
Wellsville Local School District is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and student-focused Band Director to lead and grow our instrumental music program. The Band Director will be responsible for developing students' musical skills through instrumental instruction, ensemble rehearsals, and performances. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in music education and a commitment to promoting a love of music in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and instruct instrumental music classes for designated grade levels (e.g., middle school, high school).
- Direct concert band(s), and may include marching band, pep band, and/or jazz band depending on the program.
- Organize and supervise band performances, competitions, parades, and other public events.
- Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment that supports all students.
- Manage instrument inventory, music library, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with school staff, administration, and parents to support student learning and success.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
- Stay current with best practices in music education and attend professional development as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Music Education or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- Valid Teaching License with Music endorsement.
- Prior experience teaching instrumental music/band preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours for after-school and evening events.
