Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.ScopeThe Department of Performing Arts in the Getty College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio Northern University welcomes applicants for a one-year, visiting assistant professor position in Voice, with the possibility of extending the appointment for an additional 1 or 2 years by mutual agreement.Principal ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will teach undergraduate applied voice lessons to students majoring in musical theatre, music education, and vocal performance. Responsibilities will also include helping to lead the vocal program at Ohio Northern University, including the oversight of voice pedagogy for adjunct voice faculty, and the administration of annual voice juries. Contributing to the audition and admissions process in the area of voice for musical theatre and music performance will also be required. Questions concerning the position should be directed to Dr. Joan Robbins, Search Committee Chair, at j-robbins@onu.edu.Required SkillsThe successful candidate will excel in teaching a diverse range of vocal styles, including classical, commercial music, and musical theatre. Knowledge of all styles of musical theatre is expected, including pop, rock, country, and rap/spoken word. Candidate must have a strong background in science-informed voice pedagogy (both classical and crossover styles) and the ability to teach additional courses in the voice area, such as diction or vocal literature. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and to solve problems creatively in a timely manner.Minimum QualificationsA master's degree is required.
