Position: Adjunct Instructor: Voice Teacher
Department: Humanities
The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia, is currently seeking adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and student learning for the Humanities division in the
College of Arts and Sciences, specifically for Vocal Performance.
The adjunct professor is expected to teach in the vocal performance program while accepting the following responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach applied voice (studio instruction both hour and half hour lessons).
- Prepare students for recital and studio class performances.
- Attended Juries, vocal recitals, and studio class performances.
- Support departmental activities related to recruitment, performance preparation, and student mentoring.
- Engage in ongoing professional activity as a performer, teacher, and/or scholar.
- Other responsibilities as assigned might include Vocal Pedagogy class, Diction Class, and Voice
Class. These courses are not offered every semester.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Vocal Performance, Music Education, or related concentration.
- Must have a minimum of eighteen graduate hours in the required teaching discipline.
- Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching, and decision-making skills.
- Must be willing to collaborate and work in a team atmosphere with the Music department.
Candidates who have experience with intersectional, inclusive instruction and with a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and student engagement are encouraged to identify those experiences in the application materials.
Candidates should also have experience and sensitivity working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work and learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

Adjunct faculty members are encouraged to attend our professional development workshops whenever possible to improve use of educational technology, determine ways to better engage students, and reflect on methods to create the most effective environment for student growth.
Positions are available in the fall and spring semesters. Review of applications occur as needed within each division of the College.
