Job Summary/Basic Function::
The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam is soliciting applicants for a full-time, 10-month Accompanist position starting in September 2025. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal.
Required Qualifications::
- Bachelor's Degree in Piano or related field
- Significant experience as a collaborative pianist

Preferred Qualifications::
- Graduate degree in Collaborative Piano or related field
- Significant experience as a collaborative pianist with a variety of instruments and voices
- Strong organizational skills
- We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups.
Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job::
Duties:
- Total accompanying load is 240 hours per 15-week semester
- Primarily, the person in this position will rehearse and perform with undergraduate students in lessons, studio classes, juries, levels, dress rehearsals and recitals
- Related to this, the person in this position will need to
- Work with the other Crane staff accompanists, under the guidance of the Accompanying Coordinator, to assign students to staff accompanists each semester.
- Schedule and conduct rehearsals with students
- Maintain accurate records of rehearsal hours
- Other accompanying assignments may include performing with faculty, ensembles or other courses, and/or accompany auditioning voice students during live on-campus audition days.
- This position will require some work during evening and weekend hours, and potentially could involve work at off-site locations.
