U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito’s (R-W.Va.) office is looking for a well-qualified speechwriter to serve in her Washington, D.C. office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to drafting speeches, op-eds, talking points, scripts for pre-recorded videos, and other written materials as needed. An ideal candidate must be flexible, highly dependable, organized, proactive, and possess a working knowledge of issues facing Congress, as well as strong oral and written communication skills, a proven ability to write quickly and crisply, the ability to target messages for specific audiences, and a talent for creatively researching and succinctly describing complex issues. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate should also have speechwriting experience, a collaborative approach to writing, and work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
