Summary:
Services: 1 per week, approximately 1.5 hours each
Rehearsal: 1 per month, approximately 1 hour each
Special Services
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of specialized experience in contemporary worship program leadership, or 3 years of experience in contemporary worship performance or leadership (an Associate degree in Music or Choral is preferred but not required)
- Ability to play at least 10 of the top 20 contemporary worship songs as selected by the Chaplain
- Ability to play a variety of instruments and musical styles relevant to contemporary worship
- Understanding of United States Navy organization and pluralistic ministry requirements
Responsibilities:
- Recommend and plan musical selections in coordination with the Officiating Chaplain
- Lead the congregation in worship music, with or without a choir or praise team
- Train choir members and/or praise team members if formed
- Serve as both musician or accompanist and director (there is currently no choir or accompanist)
- Distribute music, maintain music equipment and materials, and ensure compliance with copyright laws
- Arrive no later than 30 minutes before each service
- Develop rapport and promote team building within the congregation and music groups
- Be available on 48 hours notice for additional services as required
- Provide and pre-approve substitutes as needed (at no additional cost)
- Submit requests for supplies or music to the Command Chaplain (no direct purchasing authority)
