The University of Alabama J. Frank Barefield Jr. College of Arts and Sciences School of Music seeks an innovative and dynamictenure-track faculty member in choral music education with proven achievement as a choral educator and a demonstrated record of successfulresearch. The ideal candidate has expertise in teaching, mentoring, and inspiring current and future choral educators and singers. Ademonstrated commitment to the role of highly trained conductor-educators in the 21st century should be an active part of the candidate'sbackground and experience. Candidates should show ability and desire to empower, advocate for, and value a broad range of students as shownthrough pedagogy, mentoring, and related activities.
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate- andgraduate-level choral methods and music education courses
- Conduct a choral ensemble
- Supervise choral studentinterns
- Actively recruit for the undergraduate and graduate choral music education degree programs
- Work closely with themusic education and choral faculty
- Maintain an active scholarly profile
- Advise students and direct studentresearch
- Serve on department and college-level committees
Other areas of teaching and conducting mayinclude:
- Other duties consistent with the candidate's interests and expertise
- Continue the development of a nationaland international reputation as a consummate choral conductor-educator and pedagogue, consistent with the expectations of a comprehensiveSchool of Music at a major research institution
There will be a preliminary Zoom screening of selected applicants. Selectedapplicants should be prepared to submit a representative research manuscript or a sample of scholarly writing that demonstrates research andacademic writing potential. Following Zoom screenings, selected candidates will be informed about in-person interviews. Priorityconsideration will be given to applications received by October 31.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A PhD in Music Education is required (ABD will be considered with degree conferralin hand by August 15, 2027)
- A strong record as an effective choral educator with at least three years of full-time teachingexperience in the secondary (middle/high school) choral classroom
- Demonstrated achievement in scholarly/creative activities, with adefined record of successful research productivity
