Position: Music Director
Start Date: ASAP (Position is Currently Open)
Roser Church is a small but growing, non-denominational church excited to step into a new season of worship! We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Music Director to help lead and shape our evolving worship services, combining the richness of traditional hymns with the energy of contemporary worship music.
Our simple but compelling mission is Loving Christ, Sharing His Grace and Serving All. As our Music Director, you will create and oversee the musical elements that support this mission. You will collaborate with other leaders to design meaningful worship experiences that reflect the deep roots of our faith, the caring spirit of our community, and the missional desire to engage those asking spiritual questions.
What We Offer:
- “A beautiful place to explore your faith”, on an island poised between Tampa Bay and the Gulf, in a community that preserves the small-town feel of a Florida family retreat.
- A growing community of new residents who are moving to the area to enjoy the weather and family-friendly environment.
- A wonderfully renovated sanctuary, with an enlarged platform, perfect for multiple forms of inspiring worship.
- A beautiful organ and grand piano waiting for a talented and inspired artist.
- A tech-friendly set-up, with a new sound and lighting design.
- An outdoor stage by the water, covered, powered and ready to musically engage our congregation and local community.
- A refurbished, historic chapel where our tradition continues to come alive.
- A small, dedicated choir eager to grow in number and skill.
- A devoted core of bell players looking for the right conductor.
- A welcoming congregation with a growing number of young families, complete with children and young people who participate in our music ministry.
- Supportive leaders that value creativity, collaboration, musical excellence, and spiritual depth.
- Competitive compensation based on education and ministry experience.
Essential Ministry Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Senior Pastor, plan and lead worship music that incorporates traditional, contemporary and perhaps other styles of music.
- Grow, rehearse and lead the church choir, encouraging participation across all ages and skill levels.
- Effectively lead congregational singing in both traditional and contemporary styles, using vocal and instrumental skills to draw the church into worship.
- Continuously seek creative ways to integrate music, visual arts, and other creative elements into worship services to enhance the spiritual experience.
- Plan, rehearse and direct special music programs for Easter, Christmas and other selected occasions.
- Play or recruit others to play piano and organ during all services, including Worship Services, Member Weddings, Celebrations of Life and similar events.
- Recruit musicians and vocalists to participate in our music ministry.
Required Team Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor, staff and lay leaders who oversee Music Ministry at Roser.
- Establish and maintain a culture of musical excellence, humility, spiritual integrity, and collaborative teamwork within our music ministry.
- Work closely with our Administrative, Communications, Facilities and Tech Teams to provide a quality worship experience for our community.
- Oversee all volunteer and contracted participants in the music ministry.
- Oversee maintenance of the church’s piano, organ, bells and related equipment.
- Oversee the Music budget in collaboration with lay leaders.
Our Ideal Candidate – Is this you?
- Has a heart for worship and a desire to lead others into the presence of God through music.
- Experienced in both traditional church music (hymns, choral arrangements) and contemporary Christian worship.
- An engaging platform presence that encourages people to actively participate in worship.
- Able to lead, teach, and inspire both skilled musicians and enthusiastic beginners.
- Flexible, creative, and excited to be part of building something new in a loving, growing church community.
- A total team player, willing to do a little extra to support teammates as we fulfill our mission together. Always willing to consider “other duties as assigned”.
- An imperfect but committed disciple of Jesus, seeking every day to love God and love others as God loves us.
- Grow, rehearse and direct our Bell Choir, encouraging participation across all ages and skill levels.
- Plan, rehearse and direct Children and Youth Music Programs.
- Plan and host a Concert Series featuring local and visiting musicians.
