· To coordinate the planning and implementation of a comprehensive music ministry for the congregation
· To continually learn about music, the people in the congregation and community, and plan music appropriate to their needs
· To engage in planning meetings for worship with the pastor, organist, accompanists, , handbell choir directors and others who may be responsible for planning and leading worship. (Does not occur very often if ever. Much is done by email.)
This cooperative planning will be led by the Senior Pastor.
· To become aware of the literature and materials available that are related to music.
· Provide leadership to the Adult Choir including but not limited to:
- Selection of music for choral anthems, special music, introit, call to prayer in consultation with the Senior Pastor
- Directing rehearsals and warm-ups for the 9:00 a.m. Sunday service and other special services such as Lent and Advent
- To schedule soloists and/or musical groups to provide special music for summer worship from the first Sunday after the Adult Choir goes on summer vacation in June through Labor Day weekend.
- Responsible for the minor maintenance and scheduling of repairs of the organ, piano and other instruments in consultation with the Pastor and organist
All maintenance agreements and major repairs shall be referred to the Board of Trustees.
- Approve the vouchers for expenses incurred by the music department.
Expenses incurred will not exceed the budget line item.
- Encourage and promote participation in the music program of the church.
