Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Board Certified Music Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will utilize evidence-based music therapy techniques to promote emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being across diverse patient populations. Your expertise will help improve quality of life for individuals facing various challenges, including developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia, autism spectrum disorder, and recovery from addiction/traumatic accident injury. Duties
- Develop and implement personalized music therapy treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and goals
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions utilizing techniques such as behavioral therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and recreational therapy to foster emotional expression and social skills
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including medical professionals, social workers, psychologists, and caregivers—to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Document all clinical activities accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain detailed medical records using CPT coding standards for billing purposes
- Provide specialized therapy for populations such as children with autism, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia patients in hospice or outpatient settings, and those recovering from addiction
- Facilitate activities that promote mental health counseling, behavioral health improvement, and patient engagement in a supportive environment
- Educate families and caregivers on therapeutic strategies to reinforce progress outside of sessions
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards related to patient confidentiality and safety
Experience
- Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists or equivalent credentialing body
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, adults with disabilities, individuals with autism spectrum disorder, dementia patients in hospice or outpatient care settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and their application within music therapy contexts
- Experience providing mental health counseling, individual and group therapy sessions in clinical or community environments
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices, CPT coding for billing purposes, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant medical records
- Background working within behavioral health or rehabilitative services such as addiction counseling or dementia care is highly desirable
- Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of patients across various age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage patients compassionately
