The ideal candidate is passionate about capturing acoustic instruments with depth, nuance, and natural realism. They should be comfortable moving microphones, acoustic panels, reflectors, and other elements to create optimal pan-acoustic environment tailored to each session. Beyond classical instruments, we also value the ability to record vocals when needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering for classical recording sessions (solo, chamber, piano, strings, winds, and vocals).
- Arrange and reposition microphones and acoustic panels to shape depth, nuance, and tonal balance.
- Apply classical recording techniques (ORTF, XY, AB, Decca-style, spot and ambient miking).
- Operate and manage Pro Tools for tracking, editing, and preparing final sessions.
- Capture high-quality audio and video for multi-camera recitals, livestreams, and events.
- Maintain consistent sonic standards that reflect the expectations of advanced classical artists.
- Work collaboratively with musicians to create recordings that support auditions, competitions, and professional opportunities.
- Maintain and organize studio gear, microphones, cables, and inventory.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Pro Tools and classical or acoustic recording workflows.
- Experience with premium microphones and flexible positioning techniques.
- Ability to adjust room acoustics using movable panels, reflectors, diffusers, and placement strategies.
- Comfortable recording both instruments and vocals.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and calm decision-making under live-session pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, artists, staff, and students.
- Classical music recording experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering or related field preferred but not required.
Partnership Opportunity
- We seek someone who wants to grow with us. For a dedicated engineer who is reliable, musically sensitive, and aligned with our mission, we are open to offering an equity stake in Jinny’s Music Studio.
