Music Instructor (Piano & Guitar) — Inspire Students & Build Leaders!
Piedmont School of Music & Dance (PSMD) is growing, and we’re hiring a multi-instrumental Music Instructor who can confidently teach BOTH piano and guitar.

About the Role
This position requires strong proficiency in both piano and guitar, as you will teach private lessons in both instruments each week. You’ll work one-on-one with students of various ages, helping them develop musical skills while also supporting our program’s mission of leadership and character development.
What You’ll Do
Private Music Instruction (Piano & Guitar)
- Teach one-on-one lessons in both piano and guitar
- Tailor instruction to meet each student’s goals and learning style
- Teach techniques, musicianship, theory, and stylistic diversity
Leadership & Character Development
- Incorporate leadership principles throughout lessons
- Support students in building responsibility, confidence, and discipline
- Encourage teamwork, goal-setting, and personal growth
Planning & Instruction
- Create engaging lesson plans aligned with our leadership-focused curriculum
- Use creative, motivating teaching methods that keep students excited
- Help students prepare for recitals, performances, and milestones
Communication
- Communicate with families through Opus (our digital lesson software)
- Provide updates on schedules, progress, expectations, closures, and reminders
- Manage questions, concerns, absences, and makeup availability professionally
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Address behavior or focus concerns calmly and effectively
What You Must Have
These are required for this role:
- Ability to play and teach BOTH piano and guitar (non-negotiable)
- Previous experience teaching private lessons
- Strong understanding of multiple musical styles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop meaningful lesson plans
- Passion for mentorship, leadership development, and character-building
A music degree is not required — we value skill, professionalism, and a heart for teaching.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
