Department/ Position Summary:
The Creative Arts Division at Western Oregon University is seeking applications for adjunct faculty to join the
Music Department. Music educators with expertise in all types of Music coursework, as well as individual lessons instructors in all instruments, voice, and areas of musical specialization, are encouraged to apply to the pool. Adjunct positions are non-benefit eligible.
Individual lessons instructors teach applied lessons on their primary instrument or voice area. One 30- or 60- minute lesson per week per student is typical. Instructors may also lead weekly studio seminars. Additional responsibilities include participating in end-of-term juries, upper-division entrance juries, and recital juries for their students. Lessons instructors are compensated at an hourly rate.
Opportunities for adjunct instruction also may potentially include a diverse range of Music courses. The department currently seeks an instructor to teach string instrument methods and techniques to K-12 Music
Education students.
Additional teaching or departmental opportunities may be available based on the candidate's expertise, qualifications, and instructional experience, as well as the evolving needs of the department in support of program outcomes.

Required Qualifications: Please ensure your application materials clearly demonstrate how you meet the following:
- Bachelor's degree in music with significant performance and teaching experience is required.
Master's degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment as a musician.
- Experience as a versatile musician able to contribute to the department's innovative curriculum and provide support for repertoire covering diverse styles and genres.
- Experience as an active performer in many different styles
- Ability to teach music students at all levels.
- Experience teaching and conducting at the high school and/or college level(s) preferred.
- Ability to provide support to music teacher programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Comprehensive understanding of the field from historical, aesthetic and practical realms.
