A position is available for a Choir and Musical Director at Fayetteville Academy for the 2026-2027 academic year. The start date is early August 2026.

Position Expectations
The Fine Arts Department seeks a dynamic educator to lead and inspire students in its choral and performing arts programs. Teaching duties include:
- Varsity Choir (8th-12th grade)
- Junior Varsity Choir (6th-7th grade)
- 5th Grade Choir
- Theater: 8th-12th grade theater course (course content may be tailored to the candidate’s strengths)
This position is also responsible for oversight and facilitation of our theater program:
- The Middle and Upper School Musical (an extracurricular production with rehearsals and performances after school)
- Dinner Theater production (typically held in the fall)
General faculty responsibilities include lesson planning, assessment, and writing progress reports. Discipline-specific duties include directing choirs, planning performances, managing auditions, sponsoring clubs and on-campus honors organizations, collaborating with the fine arts team, and overseeing other fine arts-related activities. The director will also support students in preparing for and participating in honors ensembles and external audition opportunities. Additional duties may be assigned based on the candidate’s strengths.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong musicianship, vocal pedagogy skills, a familiarity with musical theater, and have the ability to engage and motivate young singers. A collaborative spirit, effective communication, and enthusiasm for working with students and colleagues are essential.
QualificationsCandidates should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in music, choral conducting, music education, or a related field (master’s preferred) and have a minimum of three years of middle or high school teaching experience. Experience in independent schools is a plus.
