Job Summary
The Board-Certified Music Therapist provides compassionate, evidence-based music therapy services to patients of Peaceful Hearts Hospice, LLC under the supervision of the Director of Holistic Services. This role works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) to support patients and families by addressing physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, enhancing comfort and quality of life.
Organizational Relationship
The Board-Certified Music Therapist reports directly to the Director of Holistic Services and works closely with the interdisciplinary team, including nursing, social work, chaplaincy, aides, volunteers, and other holistic care providers.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Board Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) required.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Board-Certified Music Therapist required.
- One (1) year of experience in hospice, home health, oncology, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide individualized music therapy services in accordance with physician orders, the patient’s plan of care, and hospice regulations.
- Assess patients to determine appropriate clinical indications for music therapy services.
- Utilize music therapy interventions to alleviate symptoms and promote physical comfort, emotional expression, relaxation, and spiritual support.
- Evaluate patient responses to therapy, document outcomes, and recommend modifications to treatment plans as needed in collaboration with the Director of Holistic Services.
- Collect and document relevant patient medical history, psychosocial factors, and lifestyle information to inform care planning.
- Communicate timely updates regarding patient condition, responses to interventions, or symptom concerns to the Registered Nurse Case Manager (RNCM) and Director of Holistic Services.
- Collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic, patient-centered care.
- Notify the Director of Holistic Services of any barriers to meeting patient needs or concerns related to care delivery.
- Provide music therapy services in a variety of care settings, including private residences, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and independent living communities.
- Offer emotional and supportive presence to patients, families, and caregivers during end-of-life moments and at the time of death.

Pay: $32.84 - $39.55 per hour
