Liquid Church is a multisite church in New Jersey with over 6,000 people attending weekly, and we’re hiring a full-time Music Director to join our Worship Department. We lead contemporary, engaging worship services every weekend across multiple campuses, with a strong emphasis on musical excellence, spiritual depth, and team culture.
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Music Director who has a proven track record directing worship teams in a modern, contemporary worship environment and who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, multisite church setting.

The Music Director reports directly to the Worship Experience Pastor and works closely with the Worship Director, Production Director, Technology Director, and Campus Worship Coordinators. This is a full-time position, scheduled Sunday through Thursday for a total of 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Broadcast Campus Worship Experience
- Team Leadership: Rehearse, coach, schedule, and lead the broadcast campus team of musicians and vocalists serving each Sunday.
- Live Service MD: Offer verbal direction and coaching to the worship team during live worship and services to ensure excellence and engagement.
- Worship Experience Design: Create impactful worship experiences by integrating musical transitions, technology, and creative production elements that enhance engagement and flow.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance with audio and musical equipment as needed to ensure smooth, reliable operations.
- Upper Room Services Support: Partner with the Upper Room Worship Leader to ensure musical alignment, shared resources, and consistent excellence across English and Spanish services in Morris County.
Ableton & Playback Creation and Management
- Ableton Session Creation: Build and maintain Ableton sessions for Broadcast Campus Worship Services and Worship Nights, ensuring consistency, quality, and integration with timecode and MIDI triggers for lyrics, motions, and lighting.
- Playback Session Creation: Prepare individual Playback sessions for each satellite campus, confirming specific song keys and arrangements with Worship Coordinators.
- Setlist Arrangements: Create weekly song arrangements and communicate setlist details clearly to all Worship Coordinators.
- Technical Oversight: Provide support for weekly Ableton and playback sessions, including software updates and integration with audio and video systems.
Central Worship Ministry Support
- Rehearsal Support: Preparing the Broadcast Campus team for rehearsal by sending exports and song details to the weekly worship team.
- Planning Center Oversight: Maintain Planning Center assets for all campuses, including charts, recordings, and instrument parts.
- Vocal Arranging: Arrange and organize vocal parts and recordings to ensure vocal consistency and quality across all campuses.
- Worship Event Support: Assist the Worship Experience Pastor with planning and executing Team Nights, Worship Nights, Prayer Rooms, prayer services, and other special events. Expect to serve on the platform during any centrally led worship experience.
- Creative Ground: Provide point leadership for creative elements involving live worship, such as video integration, special music, and creative ideation.
- Weekly Collaboration Meetings: Participate in weekly Worship Systems and Experience Team meetings to debrief weekend services, identify technology needs, and plan for future improvements.
Staff Culture & Engagement
- Staff Wide Events and Meetings: Actively participate in all church-wide events such as Big Sundays, Christmas, and Outreach events. Contribute to All-Staff Meetings and special gatherings with a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
- Schedule Flexibility: Adjust your weekly schedule to accommodate major events, ensuring time-off requests are planned around key ministry dates.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in music leadership at a multisite or large church.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading teams, fostering alignment, and developing volunteer leaders in a high-pressure environment
- Worship Team Experience: Experience in music direction and arranging worship sets at a church of 500 or more.
- Spiritual Maturity: A person who regularly practices learning from God's Word, allowing God to renew their mind, and being obedient to what they learn.
- Knowledge and Expertise: Strong grasp of music theory, proficiency with software such as Ableton, Logic, and ProTools, and a solid understanding of leadership and communication principles.
- Musical Abilities: Competent instrumentalist, bandleader, and communicator
- Schedule: Available Sundays from setup to teardown, Monday & Tuesday office hours, and weeknight rehearsals
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Relational Ability: A “people” person who works well with staff and volunteers of varying personality types.
- Passion: A genuine heart for worship and people, driven to build a unified, Spirit-filled worship community.
