Overview
The Classical Music Teacher inspires students to understand, perform, and appreciate music through instruction rooted in music theory, music history, and the Classical Tradition. The teacher builds musical literacy, performance skills, and historical understanding while maintaining a joyful, disciplined, and supportive learning environment.
Duties
- Maintain a joyful, organized classroom that encourages active participation and musical growth
- Maintain discipline that fosters a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
- Deliver instruction in music fundamentals, including rhythm, melody, notation, listening skills, and vocal or instrumental performance
- Introduce students to classical composers, musical styles, and historical contexts aligned with Core Knowledge
- Prepare students for performances, concerts, or classroom demonstrations as appropriate
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding of students and attend all meetings related to additional student support
- Communicate professionally and regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student academic, musical, and behavioral progress
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and professional development, implementing effective instructional strategies
- Support school-wide performances, concerts, and musical events
Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree for relevant subjects along with passing Praxis required
- Teaching experience in K-6 preferred
- Commitment to Core Knowledge and Classical Education
- Experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
