Position OverviewTexas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Horn. This position involves teaching applied horn lessons to undergraduate students (freshman through senior levels), with a teaching load of up to 15 weekly applied lessons, depending on studio needs and enrollment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach weekly applied horn lessons for music majors, minors, and non-majors at all proficiency levels.
- Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, performance development, and professional goals.
- Collaborate closely with the horn studio professor and music faculty.
- Depending on availability and departmental needs:
- Co-direct horn chamber ensembles
- Lead Freshman Warm-Up class
- Co-teach horn masterclasses
- Teach one 8-week Horn Methods course as assigned.
- Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies.
- Perform additional instructional or service duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Master's degree in music (or a closely related field) from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in music.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience teaching applied horn lessons at the collegiate level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong foundation in horn pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of horn literature, including etudes, orchestral excerpts, solo, and chamber repertoire.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to student success and retention.

Additional InformationA federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025.
