Job TitleAdjunct Instructor - Music (Percussion)
Essential Job Functions- Provide instruction in percussion performance, including applied lessons, percussion ensemble, or related music courses as assigned.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans, instructional materials, and performance exercises that enhance students' technical and musical abilities.
- Evaluate and assess student progress through performances, assignments, and examinations.
- Prepare students for recitals, concerts, juries, and other musical performances.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students pursuing studies in music and percussion performance.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports.
- Utilize instructional technology and learning management systems (LMS) to support teaching and communication with students.
- Support departmental concerts, rehearsals, and music program activities as appropriate.
- Adhere to institutional policies, academic standards, and departmental guidelines.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications- Master's degree in Music, Music Performance, Music Education, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in music or percussion-related coursework.
- 1 - 3 years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of percussion performance techniques, repertoire, and pedagogy.
- Knowledge of music theory, rhythm, and musical interpretation.
- Familiarity with percussion instruments, including snare drum, timpani, mallet instruments, drum set, and auxiliary percussion.
- Strong instructional and performance skills in percussion.
- Effective communication and teaching skills.
- Ability to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Skill in demonstrating proper technique and musicianship.
- Ability to teach percussion techniques and performance skills effectively.
- Ability to motivate and mentor students in musical development.
- Ability to prepare students for performances and musical presentations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
