About Foundation Music School
Foundation Music School (FMS) is a nonprofit community music school dedicated to student-centered learning, adaptive music education, and whole-person musicianship. Our teaching philosophy blends structured skill development with creative exploration, ensuring that every student—regardless of background or ability—finds a meaningful connection to music.
We provide a collaborative and supportive teaching environment, where private piano instructors have the freedom to adapt their instruction to the needs and interests of their students.
Position Overview
We are seeking a private and group piano instructor beginning June 1, 2026, to teach 20-30 private students per week, with opportunities to lead group classes starting Fall 2026. This position is well-suited for an instructor who values both structure and creativity in music education.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality private instruction in piano, adapting to students’ individual goals and learning styles.
- Potential to lead 1 group class per week (starting Fall/Spring 2026; training provided), following an FMS-provided curriculum while bringing your own teaching style.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting students in their growth as musicians.
- Maintain clear communication with families and collaborate with fellow educators.
Schedule & Compensation for Private Piano Instructor
- Teaching hours: 3:00 - 7:00 PM (Monday-Friday), with some earlier availability in summer if desired.
- Lesson structure: 30-minute lessons in Fall/Spring; 45-minute lessons in Summer.
- Group classes: 60 minutes per class, with 5-6 students per session (assistant provided for larger groups).
- Compensation: $27.00-$30.00 per hour, based on education and experience.

- A musician-educator with a Bachelor’s degree in music (pedagogy, performance, education, or therapy) or equivalent experience.
