Job Summary:
The Music Department is responsible for the effective development and delivery of the department’s curriculumand advising of department majors. The department focuses on quality teaching and student-centered learning. The candidate must possess theability to recruit talented major and non-major students to the music program and develop relationships with music educators throughout theregion.
Essential Functions:
- Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College
- Direct ChamberOrchestra and Jazz Ensemble
- Instruction in other areas, such as applied lessons or GE courses, if that is the candidate’s strengthand interest
- Additional Non-teaching duties will include recruiting, advising, participation in faculty governance, andsupervising and mentoring students in the college’s Employment Experiences program who
- are fulfilling the requirements of thisprogram within their departments, primarily through exceptional
- and sustained opportunities for student participation in research.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to changing work processes.
- Satisfy the duties of a CampusSecurity Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) andsatisfy the duties of an Official with Authority (OWA) and Mandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position
- Comply with BethelCollege policies and procedures
Education & Experience:
- MM or MMEd required
- DMA or Ph.D. in musicpreferred
- Demonstrated experience leading instrumental ensembles (orchestra and/or jazz preferred)
- Qualifications toteach music education courses
