LCU in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking a dynamic Assistant Professor of Music. Faculty is responsible for lecture/classroom/lessons. The position is open until filled.
The position is in-person, tenure track with salary based on candidate’s qualifications. Nine-month position starting August 1st, 2026. Competitive salary and benefits. Candidate must demonstrate Christian faith and integrate the Christian faith with student learning.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree required; earned or pursuing a doctorate or terminal degree desirable.

Responsibilities include:
(1) Teach a courseload of twelve (12) or equivalent credits per semester.
(2) Maintain office hours and availability to students and colleagues.
(3) Serve on institutional committees as assigned and fulfill other appropriate institutional and professional duties.
Duties related to the Department of Music:
(1) Teach applied voice to music majors, music minors, and elective students. This may include preparing students for recital hours, studio seminars, and junior/senior recitals.
(2) Teach courses related to voice or at least one other area (such as theory, music appreciation, or musical theatre) based on the candidate’s expertise and curriculum needs.
(3) Coordinate with other faculty to support and/or produce performance events, such as the annual Alsup Voice Competition and Christmas on the Hill.
(4) Develop opportunities for outreach and engagement with area music teachers and/or high school students.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to teach applied voice, including art song, aria, and contemporary traditions.
• Ability to guide students in bel canto as well as other techniques, such as musical theatre and contemporary church music.
• Demonstratable knowledge in vocal diction, technique, and pedagogy.
• Piano skills sufficient to teach lessons without a regular accompanist.
• Capacity to teach in at least one musical area not specific to voice (e.g., theory, music appreciation, basic keyboard skills).
• Ability to utilize online instructional tools (LMS, integrated textbook tools, etc.).
