Thank you for considering this part-time position. We are looking for a Vocal Instructor that also has Musical Theatre Experience to teach vocals. This position is specifically for voice with younger students ages 7 - 10 (2nd to 5th grade).
Start Date (August 1st for full schedule listed below- modified/reduced schedule June 1 - July 31)
Previous experience teaching children ages 7 - 10 with references is required.
Previous Vocal Performance within a Musical Theatre context is also required.
This is NOT a position for a vocal technical specialist (only).
This instructor must have actual performance experience within musical theatre productions, and be interested in engaging with theatre students who are working to better their vocals. You also must have "younger kid" gloves, and understand where children are in their development overall at this age.
Your Schedule is:
Tuesdays 4pm - 7pm
Wednesdays 4pm - 6pm
Thursdays 2pm - 5pm
Fridays 2pm - 4:30pm
Duties to include:
- Teaching Vocals to both small groups of Musical Theatre (we are going Jungle Book Kids this fall, and Willy Wonka Kids Spring 2027), and conducting smaller "Voice for Musical Theatre" Workshops
- Some acting guidance coaching for lines during, right before, or right after a song
- Individual Lessons (when appropriate) for students
- Teaching the vocal-portion of our Double Threat (Singing/Acting) on Tuesday/Thursday and our Triple Threat Workshops (Wednesdays)
Preferences in hiring:
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Have previous experience teaching children in a group setting
- Have previous verifiable work history of dependability and consistency
- Have previous Musical Theatre Teaching experience
- Have directed or assistant-directed in previous productions
Requirements in hiring:
- Must be available for Tuesday - Thursday (Friday preferred but not required) days listed in the position
- Must be able to pass background checks (criminal)
- Must genuinely enjoy teaching children and have previous successful and verifiable experience teaching children ages 7-10
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $38.00 - $48.00 per hour
