Job Summary
We are seeking a parttime music director to lead the music program working in conjunction with the Pastor, staff, and Worship & Music Team to plan and coordinate services and provide leadership and resources for the muscial ensembles. A demonstrated knowledge of Lutheran/catholic theology, liturgical practice, and the proper use of music in worship is preferred. The primary role involves directing the Senior Choir with demonstrated teaching skills and ability to work with choir members of all skill levels. Proficiency in accompanying on piano and/or organ is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree in Music, or equivalent education and applicable music experience is required.
Duties
- Be responsible for directing the Senior Choir at all scheduled practices and services.
- Planning anthems in accordance with the Church calendar year and lectionary
- Hold weekly midweek rehearsals except in June and July. The Choir Director will keep the choir together on Sundays in the summer as hymn support.
- Collaborating with other church musicians and musically inclined parishioners
- Recruiting new choir members, musicians, and instrumentalists while ministering to the needs of the choir
- Organize musical groups when interest permits to include a Praise Band to lead contemporary services and a Hand Bell Ensemble for offertories or preludes.
- Prepare and lead an annual Christmas Cantata or conduct a special Lessons and Carols service featuring the choir and other musical ensembles.

- Demonstrated teaching ability to guide musicians of varying skill levels with patience and clarity.
- Strong leadership qualities to motivate teams, coordinate rehearsals, and manage schedules effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with church staff, volunteers, and congregation members.
- Experience mentoring musicians, fostering talent development, and encouraging spiritual growth through music.
- Proficiency in reading sheet music, playing instruments (preferably piano or organ), and understanding sound equipment operation.
- Ability to adapt musical styles to suit diverse worship settings while maintaining a reverent atmosphere.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 6.0 per week
