Job Description
We are seeking a creative and collaborative Music Director to lead and grow our music ministry in a progressive Christian congregation. This role works closely with the pastor and worship team to create meaningful, inclusive worship through a variety of musical styles.

Responsibilities
- Plan and lead music for weekly worship services and special events
- Collaborate with the pastor and worship team on service design
- Select music reflecting progressive theology and diverse traditions
- Lead congregational singing and serve as pianist/accompanist
- Recruit, support, and coach volunteer musicians and singers
- Develop and direct a member choir or vocal ensemble (as interest allows)
- Coordinate rehearsals and manage music resources
Qualifications
- Experience in a church music leadership or similar role preferred
- Proficiency in piano and the ability to lead congregational singing
- Familiarity with a range of music styles (traditional hymns, contemporary, and popular music)
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with and encourage musicians of all skill levels
- Alignment with progressive/inclusive Christian values
Details
- Location: Carlsbad, CA
- Part-time: ~20 hours/week (includes Sundays and rehearsals)
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience
