Position Summary
Faith United Methodist Church is seeking a Worship Leader who is called to lead worship as ministry, not performance. Rooted in United Methodist theology and the Wesleyan tradition, the ideal candidate possesses both musical and administrative skillsets, along with high personal integrity and maturity in Christ, to effectively lead our congregation vocally and instrumentally.
This individual will plan and lead contemporary worship experiences that are spiritually formative, theologically grounded, and inviting to people at all stages of faith. Additionally, the Worship Leader will work closely with the Pastor, staff, and volunteer teams to support the mission of the United Methodist Church: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
This role focuses primarily on sustaining and strengthening the church’s contemporary worship ministry while serving as a visible, trusted spiritual leader within the congregation.

The Worship Leader must affirm and support the beliefs, mission, and doctrine of the United Methodist Church, demonstrating an understanding of John Wesley’s emphasis on grace, discipleship, personal holiness, and communal faith. Worship leadership at Faith UMC is expected to reflect theological integrity and spiritual depth.
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Planning & Leadership
● Plan and lead contemporary worship services aligned with weekly Scripture and sermon themes
● Select music that is theologically sound and spiritually engaging
● Lead the 10:45 a.m. contemporary Sunday worship service
● Meet weekly with the Pastor and Tech Director to plan, review, and evaluate services
Team Leadership & Development
● Recruit, train, and spiritually nurture volunteer musicians and vocalists
● Lead weekly rehearsals and ensure preparedness for Sunday worship
● Provide musicians with lead sheets and/or chord charts for rehearsals and services
● Identify, encourage, and develop worship leadership gifts in others
● Build the praise team spiritually, musically, and relationally
Musical & Technical Collaboration
● Lead worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar and/or keyboard required)
● Demonstrate a working knowledge of sound and worship technology
● Collaborate with the Tech Team to support excellence and consistency
Qualifications
● A growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ
● Alignment with United Methodist theology and Wesleyan doctrine
● Experience leading worship with vocalists and musicians
● Ability to lead while playing guitar and/or keyboard
● Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
● Commitment to ongoing spiritual and professional growth
Accountability, Time & Compensation
● Reports to the Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
● 10–15 hours per week
● Compensation based on qualifications and experience
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
