Status: 7 hours/ week, ten months per year

Positions: 1 Soprano Section Leader/Soloist and 1 Alto Section Leader/ Soloist available
Job Summary
Provides vocal leadership within the choir, as a soloist and leader for one of the four choral sections.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates excellent singing and music sight-reading skills.
- Attends all choir rehearsals (7:00pm – 10:00pm) and Sunday Services (9:00am – 12:00pm), September through June, and any other special services that are part of the Church year, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Music Director.
- Sings solo and small group pieces, as appropriate, in Sunday services and other occasions.
- Learns choral music ahead of rehearsals in preparation for leading their section efficiently and professionally.
- Is aware of their section’s performance and arranges for sectional rehearsals with the Music Director when appropriate; is aware of singers’ problems, helping to solve them and seeking further assistance from the Music Director when necessary.
- Promotes the mission of the choir and always strives for excellence in the music programs.
- Works cooperatively with other staff, volunteers and congregants to achieve excellence in all of the UUCB programs.
Other Responsibilities:
- Attends monthly Music Staff meetings.
- May provide music for rites of passage such as weddings and funerals for additional compensation.
- This position requires work on evenings and Sundays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent study in Music Performance from an accredited college or university (preferably in choral music) strongly recommended.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to move freely to access the choir loft.

Pay: $22.00 per hour
