The Basilica School of St. Mary Star of the Sea, a vibrant Catholic PreK–8 school in beautiful Key West, Florida, seeks a passionate and talented Elementary Music Teacher to join our faculty. Position Summary
The Elementary Music Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing an engaging music curriculum for students in grades PreK–8, fostering musical appreciation, creativity, performance skills, and participation in the rich liturgical traditions of the Catholic Church. The successful candidate will inspire students through classroom instruction, musical performances, and school-wide celebrations while contributing positively to the mission of Catholic education.
Compensation
Salary is dependent upon experience, credentials, and employment status (full-time versus after-school/part-time arrangements).
Salary Range: $68,000–$88,000 annually

Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for elementary and middle school students.
- Develop age-appropriate lessons in music theory, vocal music, rhythm, movement, and musical appreciation.
- Direct student performances, concerts, and special musical presentations throughout the school year.
- Prepare students for participation in school Masses, liturgical celebrations, and other parish-school events.
- Collaborate with clergy, administration, faculty, and parish musicians to support the liturgical life of the school.
- Foster student confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and performance opportunities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, Music Ministry, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification preferred.
- Experience teaching elementary-age students.
- Strong vocal and/or instrumental proficiency.
- Experience directing choirs, ensembles, or student performances.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate technology into music instruction.
