We are currently seeking a Music and Drama Instructor to join our Training and Education team.
Position Summary
Provide engaging instruction to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a variety of fine arts and enrichment classes. Plan, organize, and lead programs in areas such as drama, band, choir, dance, and Bible study, along with rotating elective courses each semester. Oversee the planning, writing, and direction of the annual Christmas program. This role may require occasional evening hours for rehearsals and performances.
Shift Available:
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 1 year of teaching experience
- Experience with the intellectual and developmentally disabled population preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in related field (physical education, therapeutic recreation, teaching, etc.) OR equivalent experience in a related field.
- CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire
- Strong communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to manage a classroom environment
Physical Demands
Must be able to work in various conditions, including outside during the Texas Summer heat. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and walk for long periods of time, participate/hands on coach various sports. Normal range of hearing and vision required.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all residents.
- Teach core music concepts such as rhythm, melody, and reading sheet music.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals.
- Design and maintain structured, semester-based class curricula.
- Collaborate with arts professionals to create enriching, creative experiences.
- Monitor resident progress and provide regular updates through meetings, documentation systems, and team communication.
- Supervise residents during all activities (on- and off-campus) and address behavioral needs appropriately.
- Plan and lead the annual Christmas program, including direction of music, drama, and performance elements (choir, band, dance, and production design).
- Support residents’ growth across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas, contributing to Individual Program Plans (IPP).
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Utilize technology to enhance learning and resident success.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and collaborate with leadership and staff.
- Manage and request necessary materials and equipment for instruction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
