Part-Time Contemporary Worship Leader

Position Summary
Trinity Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader to lead and develop Christ-centered, theologically sound contemporary worship. This individual will provide musical leadership, spiritual sensitivity, and team development to support weekly worship services and special services throughout the church year.
The Worship Leader must be committed to Lutheran doctrine (LCMS), able to align music with Scripture and sermon themes, and skilled in building and leading volunteer musicians into meaningful worship.
Key Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
- Lead contemporary worship in weekly services through keyboard or guitar and vocal leadership
- Select and coordinate music that aligns with LCMS doctrine, Scripture readings, liturgy, and sermon themes
- Ensure worship is Christ-centered, theologically sound, and spiritually engaging
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to plan worship services at weekly planning meetings
Music & Team Development
- Lead and rehearse worship band and vocal team during Thursday evening practices
- Recruit, develop, and encourage volunteer musicians, vocalists, and technical support team members
- Identify and cultivate musical talent within the congregation and community
- Maintain high musical standards with strong attention to detail and preparation and sound quality
- Learn & Utilize ProPresenter, Planning Center Services, and CCLI for planning contemporary worship and scheduling volunteers etc.
Service Schedule & Expectations
- Attend weekly worship planning meetings (Tuesday AM)
- Lead Thursday evening rehearsals
- Lead Sunday morning worship services
- 9:45 AM, 11:15 AM during the school year (Labor Day–Memorial Day)
- 10:00 AM during the summer (Memorial Day–Labor Day)
- Assist with Monday evening worship service (7:00 PM) during the program year
Collaboration & Ministry Alignment
- Work closely with pastoral staff to ensure worship supports preaching, liturgy, and church year themes
- Ensure all music and worship elements are consistent with LCMS theology and practice
- Foster unity, excellence, and spiritual depth within the worship ministry
- Work with Trinity’s internal tech team to make sure all video/audio elements are well planned out and executed during worship and streaming
Time Commitment
- Approximately 15–20 hours per week to start
- Potential transition to a full-time position within a one-year successful trial period
Trial Period
- This position will serve as a one-year trial period to evaluate fit, leadership, and ministry alignment with potential for expansion into a full-time role
Qualifications
- Proficient in either keyboard or guitar with strong vocal ability
- Demonstrated experience leading worship in a church setting
- Experience leading bands and worship teams
- Strong understanding of Lutheran (LCMS) theology or willingness to be trained in it
- Ability to organize, plan, and lead with excellence and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop volunteers and build teams
- Heart for worship, discipleship, and congregational engagement

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
