Who we are
Brownsville Piano Studio is a growing music school with one conviction at its center: a child who loves music will outlast a child who only fears the teacher. We teach through structured play — real technique, real standards, built on top of joy rather than instead of it. Our students perform, compete, and stay for years. Our families call the studio a second home. We intend to keep it that way.
Who we're looking for
A pianist who teaches with soul and structure. You meet each student where they are, you make the first lessons genuinely fun on purpose, and then you layer in the technique and discipline that turn play into skill. You care about doing this work well — we believe competence is a moral duty, and we hire people who feel the same. If your teaching style is drilling notes until the joy leaves the room, we're not the studio for you, and that's okay.
What the position looks like
- Teach private lessons (30, 45, and 60 minutes) and weekly group classes, inheriting an established roster of students from day one — you start with a studio, not an empty book
- Monday–Friday schedule: mornings 10:00–1:00 and evenings 4:00–8:30 (Mon–Thu), with your midday break genuinely yours; approximately 34.5 scheduled hours per week
- Mornings blend teaching with the studio's inner life: administrative duties, program building, and your part in a clear, visionary plan for how this studio grows — this is a creative position, not just a teaching one
- Your ideas are valid here. Every full-time instructor carries a Studio Portfolio: one named area of studio responsibility matched to your strengths (recruiting, events, festivals and competitions, family experience, and more), with real ownership behind it — we build roles around people, not people into slots
- A studio year of two 17-week semesters plus recital weeks, an 8-week summer session, and roughly 6 weeks of paid studio closure annually — we built rest into the year on purpose
What we offer
- $40,000–$45,000 starting salary, commensurate with experience, with raises guaranteed in writing every year — no negotiating for what you've earned

- International musicians on OPT or CPT are encouraged to apply — for faculty who grow with us, work-visa sponsorship may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
What we ask
- A degree in piano performance, piano pedagogy, or music education (Master's preferred), or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated experience teaching children — including beginners, including group settings
- Warmth, patience, and standards, in that order and all three
- All positions contingent on a background check; our instructors work with children
