Instructor of Music Technology and Music Industry
The School of Music seeks a dynamic andcollaborative educator to teachin its established, comprehensive musictechnology program and its recently developed music industry program.Candidates should beaccomplished musicians with a wide range oftechnical skills and expertise in music industry and musictechnology.
Preferredqualifications include substantial experience inboth music technology and music industry. Primary teachingresponsibilities might includecourses in music technology (such asaudio recording techniques), music business, music industrystudies, multimedia (game audio/film), andcommercial musicensemble.
The successful candidatewill demonstrate versatility in preparing students fortoday's varied andevolving professional landscape. Areas ofknowledge should include rights and copyright, music business, musicproduction, live musicmanagement, stage production, arts management, musicadministration, and commercial music. Additional potentialteaching areas includeapplied instruction on rock and popular musicinstruments or in laptop-based performance.
Responsibilities:
Teachcourses in musictechnology and music industry. Work collaborativelywith all faculty. Willingness to contribute to all aspects oflife inthe School of Music including active involvement in therecruitment and retention of students and curriculumdevelopment. Additional dutiesrelatedto candidate's expertise and experience may alsobe assigned by the Director.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degreein Music, eligible for appointment to graduate faculty
PreferredQualifications: 1) teaching experience atthe universitylevel; 2) experience with recording techniques, music industry,music business, and commercial music.
The School ofMusic, one of threeacademic units within the College of Communication, Fine Arts, andMedia, is located in its own performing arts complex.Witha faculty of 45, the School enrolls approximately 220 students andoffers the Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in MusicEducation andPerformance, a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Music Studies,Music Technology, Jazz, and Entrepreneurship, andthe Master of Music degreewith concentrations in Conducting, Music Education, Jazz, andPerformance. The School of Music is a fullyaccredited member of theNational Association of Schools of Music.
