We are especially seeking a spiritually mature and strong vocalist who can confidently lead our congregation, serve collaboratively with our existing team, and help us continue cultivating biblical, Christ-centered, congregational worship.

CONNECT TO CHURCHGathering with God’s people to worship, fellowship, serve, encourage, and be equipped.
CONNECT TO COMMUNITYTaking the gospel of Jesus Christ into our neighborhoods, city, and world.

Position Summary
The Worship Leader reports to the Senior Pastor and works collaboratively with the pastoral staff and Pinecrest’s volunteer Worship Administrator in the planning and leadership of our Sunday worship gatherings.
The primary responsibility of the Worship Leader is to provide strong vocal and musical leadership that helps the congregation sing together in worship of God.
Because Pinecrest already has a strong base of capable musicians, vocal leadership is a primary consideration for this position. Proficiency on guitar, piano, or keyboard is beneficial but is not required.
The Worship Leader should be spiritually mature, relationally engaged, and committed to serving and developing those involved in the worship ministry.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLead Congregational Worship
Lead the congregation vocally during Sunday worship gatherings with musical strength, warmth, clarity, and confidence.
The Worship Leader should model heartfelt worship while helping direct the congregation’s attention toward Christ. Appropriate use of Scripture, brief exhortations, and transitions should serve the congregation and support the overall flow of the service.
Our goal is not simply to perform songs well, but to help the church sing together.
Participate in Worship Planning
Work closely with the Senior Pastor, pastoral staff, and volunteer Worship Administrator in planning weekly worship gatherings.
Responsibilities include helping select music, developing service flow, coordinating musical elements, and considering how songs, Scripture readings, prayers, preaching, and other elements of the gathering work together.
The Worship Leader must be comfortable working within a collaborative ministry structure and value the gifts, experience, and leadership of Pinecrest’s established volunteers.
Lead and Develop the Worship Team
Lead regular rehearsals for musicians and vocalists, helping the team prepare well for Sunday worship.
Build relationships with existing team members and help identify, recruit, encourage, and develop additional vocalists and musicians as needed.
Rehearsals should provide excellent musical preparation while also encouraging prayer, unity, fellowship, and spiritual growth among those serving.
Communicate and Prepare Well
Provide clear and timely communication to worship ministry volunteers concerning music, rehearsals, schedules, and other ministry needs.
Prepare adequately for worship services and rehearsals so that volunteers are equipped to serve confidently and effectively.
Work with the worship ministry team to maintain healthy organization, communication, and consistency from week to week.
Participate in the Life of Pinecrest
The Worship Leader should become an active and engaged part of the Pinecrest church family and support the broader mission and ministries of the church.
We are looking for someone who desires not only to lead from the platform but also to know, encourage, and serve the people with whom they worship each week.
Our Worship Philosophy
Pinecrest is committed to worship that is grounded in Scripture, centered on Christ, rich in the gospel, and designed for the participation of the gathered church.
We believe worship encompasses the entire gathering of God’s people as we sing, pray, read Scripture, hear God’s Word preached, observe the ordinances, give, and respond together to His grace. Music is therefore one part of the church’s gathered worship and should serve the congregation rather than draw primary attention to those leading from the platform.
Our desire is not to create a concert atmosphere but to cultivate a congregation that sings.
We value the rich heritage of Christian hymnody while also incorporating faithful contemporary songs that serve the church well.
Songs are selected based upon biblical faithfulness, theological clarity, gospel-centered content, congregational singability, and their usefulness in the discipleship of the church. Our repertoire is shaped by Scripture and theological conviction rather than simply by popularity or current worship trends.
The Worship Leader must be willing to serve joyfully within Pinecrest’s established philosophy and practices concerning congregational music and song selection.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should:
- Have a clear testimony of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrate a growing relationship with Him.
- Be in agreement with the doctrine of Pinecrest Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Support the mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
- Demonstrate strong vocal ability and the ability to lead congregational singing confidently.
- Possess a biblical understanding of worship and a commitment to theological faithfulness in song selection.
- Demonstrate Christian character, humility, teachability, reliability, and integrity.
- Work well in collaboration with pastors, staff members, and established volunteer leaders.
- Possess strong relational, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Be able to encourage and develop musicians and vocalists of varying skill levels.
- Be willing to become an active and engaged member of the Pinecrest church family.
- Successfully complete a background check.
Proficiency on guitar, piano, or keyboard is beneficial but not required.
Schedule and Compensation
The Worship Leader is a part-time, hourly position, generally requiring approximately 12–15 hours per week, depending upon ministry needs and seasonal responsibilities.
Regular responsibilities will include Sunday worship services, rehearsals, worship planning, personal preparation, communication with the worship ministry team, and occasional special services or ministry events.
Specific scheduling expectations and regular office or planning hours will be established in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
