The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track, beginning July 1, 2027. The Department seeks a musicologist whose research focuses on popular music, broadly defined. The person hired for this position will hold the Richman Family Endowed Professorship in Popular Music Studies. Duties include a teaching load of two courses per semester (foundational music history sequence; topics courses; graduate seminars) in addition to a share of departmental advising on the undergraduate and graduate levels, plus service to the department and/or college.

The annual starting base salary range for this position is from $75,000 to $80,000. CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Qualifications
Applicants must have, at minimum, a completed PhD in musicology by July 31, 2027, an active program of research and publication in musicology, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
