Job Overview
New Brown Spring Baptist Church is seeking a dependable and talented Pianist / Keyboardist to support our worship services.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable in a Baptist church worship environment and can play a variety of music, including traditional hymns, gospel, contemporary gospel, praise and worship music.
The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, able to work well with singers and church leadership, and understands how to follow the flow of a worship service.
Responsibilities
- Play piano and/or keyboard for Sunday worship services
- Accompany congregational singing, soloists, choir, and other vocalists as needed
- Play hymns, gospel, contemporary gospel, and praise and worship music
- Follow singers and adjust tempo, key, and musical style when necessary
- Work cooperatively with church leadership and other members of the music ministry
- Attend scheduled rehearsals as required
- Be prepared, punctual, and dependable for scheduled services
- Participate in special services or church programs when mutually agreed upon
Qualifications
- Proficient in piano and/or keyboard
- Experience playing in a church setting is preferred
- Strong familiarity with gospel music, hymns, and praise and worship
- Ability to play by ear is highly desirable
- Ability to transpose and follow singers is preferred
- Ability to read chord charts or sheet music is a plus, but not required
- Dependable, professional, and able to work well with others
- Able to adapt to the natural flow of a church worship service
Compensation
$175 per Sunday
Compensation for additional services or special events outside of the regular Sunday schedule may be discussed separately.
About the Position
This is a part-time church musician position with New Brown Spring Baptist Church. We are looking for someone who not only has musical ability but understands that the purpose of the music is to support and enhance the worship experience.
